How do you make blue eyeshadow look pretty?

I have brown eyes and blue eyeshadow is supposed to make brown stand out a lot. However, I can't make it look good! I usually wear very natural brown eyeshadow so I'm not used to it. I would love advice! Oh, and as much detail as possible so I can apply it to myself. Thanks so much in advance :)How do you make blue eyeshadow look pretty?
Periwinkle is actually a really good color for brown eyes. It's not blue, and it's not purple, it's like a soft indigo.

With blue, you follow the basic rules for applying eye make-up (medium shades go on lid, dark shades go on crease, and light shades highlight and go on the ball of the eye.)

Some good tips for applying blue eyeshadow, is to stay subtle. Blue itself is an intense color, and if you use it heavily, it'll look overdone. Also, line your eyes with liquid or pencil black eyeliner. This makes the blue appear more vibrant and your eyes will stand out more (which basically works with any eyeshadow color.)

Here is a video I found on YouTube that is amazingly explanatory: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLw9Vjb-m鈥?/a>

It's in pictures, but it's easy to follow. Yes, it uses silver, but that's good, because using blue alone will look dull, y'know? You don't have to use ANY of the brands she used, you can always substitute.

G'luck. Sorry if this is long. How do you make blue eyeshadow look pretty?
If you're the Harajuku-type like I am...I would go yellow and blue...

Prime your lid with primers (Urban Decay Shadow Primer Potion)

Pack on the sunshine-yellow eyeshadow from the inner corner of your lid to about where you're pupil is (middle of the lid)

Pack on the jewel-blue eyeshadow from the outer lid in.

Blend the colors in around the middle to make it look ';seamless';

Then use the same color scheme on the bottom lash line

Last, jet black mascara!

But if you're more the Barbie type, try bubble gum pink and turquoise blue combo!

prime lids

Pack the pink from the crease of your lids outwards (just a little bit, so when your eyes are open, it looks subtle not uber obvious)

Then pack on the the blue from lash line to crease and blend just a little so you don't get a weird color

Then use a deeper blue (1 or 2 shades darker than the turquoise blue) to line the upper and lower lash lines

Last, jet black mascara again!

Happy makeup trying!
i understand how you feel:

i've tried a least twenty different shades of blue and i've found that a nice matte navy, indigo, or cerulean blue works best.Steer clear of sky blues or anything with a silver tint to it ';True'; blues are best.

truth be told i like to cover the entire lid (Lid: from lash line to your crease) in my blue color and apply a shimmery brown to my inner corner/tear duct only and blend them together (don't let the brown pass the place where your lashes begin). i think it makes the eyes look bigger since darker colors tend to close/make the eye smaller.

Also for a more neutral look do your basic every day brown but blend the blue into the outer corner of your eye.

either way you go there's really no need for eyeliner so just put on one swipe of mascara to darken your lashes and that's it (PS: i suggest wearing a neutral/clear/flesh tone lip color when wearing blue eyeshadow)
You want to stay away from the super bright blues that make you look way too done up.. try to go for the more muted blues, like maybe a grayish blue or a subtle teal colour.

Also, make sure you dont apply it much past your actual eyelid, it might make you look trashy. If your not ready for bright blue eyeshadow, you could always try a blue eyeliner under your eye.

Use a medium sized brush, and try to foccus your makeup on your eyes, do neutral makeup everywhere else.

Good luck :)
well I'm not sure what you mean by pretty, but here is a trick to make it bolder (even for cheap makeup like claires). if you wet the brush or whatever you use, and then get the eyeshadow it will make it darker and more bold. but don't put too much because it will crease. and it may take a second to dry.
You should go to the drugstore, get 3-4 shades of blue (all cheap liners, try NYC). You can determine which color looks best yourself. Apply the eyeliner to your lower lashline.. and you can match this with gold and brown eyeshadow on the top lid
Here is the PERFECT tutorial for the perfect blue look and the best blue color kit.
